Hurricane Rita

I just cannot believe that I'm sitting here watching ANOTHER hurricane make its way across the Gulf Coast. As I'm writing this, Rita has weakened somewhat and is now a Category 4 hurricane, making it still dangerous. There are hurricane watches and warnings all along the Texas and Louisiana coastlines. All I can hope for is that Rita weakens even further before it makes landfall and that Texas is spared the devastation of a hurricane like Katrina. It used to be my dream to live on a house on the beach; after this hurricane season, that dream has changed.

I'm with you. The beach is a great place to visit but living there just seems dangerous now.

It really does -- and scary -- the beach was never scary to me before.

It's strange...but I still love the beach. It scares me a little more. But if I lived in Cameron parish or New Orleans, I'd go home and rebuild as soon as I could. I think I would anyway.

I wouldn't have any more animals than I could load up and take with me in a hurry, though.

Me either -- I have way too many cats and there is no way I could take them all with me in the case of another big storm -- that worries me.

That's funny, Dr. Charles. :) I know exactly how you feel.
